As the end of the spring semester of the academic year 2023-2024 has arrived, an important moment for the completion of the innovative actions of this academic year was the meeting of the Scientific Committee for the evaluation of the group work of the students who took part in the innovative action “Education, Entrepreneurship and Culture”, which is successfully implemented for the sixth consecutive academic year by the Teacher Education Program of the Athens University of Economics and Business, the Association “Diazoma”, the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit of AUEB (ACEin) and the economic educational magazine “Xenophon”.
The meeting of the Scientific Committee took place on 27/6/2024.
The coordinator of the meeting was the Scientific Coordinator and Instructor of the Program Dr. Vasiliki Brinia, while on behalf of the collaborating organizations participated: Dr. Mary Belogianni, responsible for the educational programs of the Association “Diazoma”, Mrs. Georgia Manolopoulou, M.Sc Ph. Dc Museologist – a member of the Board of Directors of the Association “Diazoma” and Mr. George Tziros, economist-educator of Pierce and representative of the economic educational magazine “Xenophon”.
The students, in the context of their group projects, were invited to study the project: “Proposals for the Exploitation of the cultural reserve of Lavrio in the Context of the Athenian Trilogy”. In the context of this innovative action, throughout the spring semester, the teams:
A/ attended speeches by the Director of the Technological Cultural Park of Lavrio Mr. Asimakis Hadoumellis, by the archaeologist of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Eastern Attica, responsible for the archaeological site of Thorikos Mrs. Eleftheria Skerlou, by the architect-engineer, collaborator of the company “Plan E.E.”, Mr. Aris Kagiafas and by Messrs. Mary Belogianni and Georgia Manolopoulou.
B/ were informed about the “Green Map of Diazoma”, a holistic guide for cities, through the presentation of architect-engineer Mrs. Elina Angeli, about the two institutions, the Business Cluster and the Destination Management and Marketing Body (DMO) through the guide prepared by D-Hub member and responsible for strategic planning in cultural, sports and educational projects Mr. Nikos Stakias and for the promotion of cultural products by Mr. Fotis Maragos, scientific member of the Institute of Small Enterprises of GSEVEE and member of the D-Hub team of Diazoma.
C/ participated in a series of educational activities focusing on Lavrio with the economist Mr. George Tziros as mentor.
The teams, having continuous interaction with the scientific associates of the action as well as executives of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit (ACEin) of AUEB, presented a final research result of a particularly high level.
In a total of eight (8) group research papers, the work evaluated by the Scientific Committee of the Action with the highest score is the team consisting of the following members:
Kontokosta Danae, Katsanou Gioula, Kolliopoulou Theodora, Micheli Akaterinis and Triantafyllou Sofia. Title of their thesis: “Port of Lavrion”. The team proposes the creation of a smart port, presenting innovative proposals aimed at automating and upgrading the port of Lavrio with the use of high technologies.
The award and presentation of the distinguished work will take place at an event of ANO DIAZOMATOS in the autumn, on a date to be announced by DIAZOMA, while the members of the Scientific Committee of the Action renewed their collaboration for the upcoming academic year 2024-2025, during which the focus of research will once again be the cultural reserve of the city of Lavrion, as part of the Athenian trilogy.
